Big Slick Plays Ball

by Kansas City Magazine Team

Fans packed The K to watch the celebrity charity baseball tournament Friday. The stars in town for the weekend Big Slick charity event played four innings in a fast paced 45 minutes with home runs, dropped balls and all sorts of other shenanigans.

Before the game commenced David Koechner led the crowd in a tribute to George Wendt, who played Norm in the longstanding 1980s sitcom Cheers and recently died. Wendt participated in Big Slick in years past.

The three-day charity event known as Big Slick features several events and sees dozens of performers from across the country descend on Kansas City all to raise money for Children’s Mercy.

The celeb game was played before the regular season Friday night game between The Royals and the Detroit Lions between the white team, which was led by Heidi Gardner and Rob Riggle, and the blue team led by Rudd and Sudeikis.
