Larkin Poe
Sister duo Larkin Poe embodies Americana music with a rocking, bluesy and tinged-with-twang sound—a concoction that scratches the brain just right. In support of their latest and eighth studio album, Bloom, the new release features driving grooves, sincere lyrics and powerful, belting vocals.

Carousel
Of the many musicals composed by Richard Rodgers—including classics like Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music—Carousel goes down in history as the composer’s personal favorite. Based on Ferenc Molnár’s 1909 play Liliom, the plot follows carnival barker Billy Bigelow’s turbulent romance with millworker Julie Jordan for a tale of love, tragedy and redemption. Music Theater Heritage’s production marks the musical’s 80th anniversary.

Sounds of the City Premiere
A new feature documentary, Sounds of the City, showcases KC’s rich music history and its influence on American music at large. The film’s premiere includes a Q&A before the screening, plus an afterparty with guest performances from local musicians Flare the Rebel and The Greeting Committee. The documentary will also be available to stream on Amazon Prime beginning Saturday.

Les Arts Florissants with Théotime Langlois de Swarte
Three hundred years ago, Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi published his iconic violin concerti, The Four Seasons. To commemorate the anniversary, French violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and chamber orchestra Les Arts Florissants will close out the Harriman-Jewell Series season with one of the most familiar classical pieces of all time.

Country Club Plaza Spring Market and Shopping Stroll
Welcome the arrival of spring at Country Club Plaza’s first annual Spring Market and Shopping Stroll. Located on Nichols Road between Jefferson Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, shoppers can experience a vibrant lineup of local artisan pop-up vendors, seasonal tastings and interactive experiences at the stores and restaurants, all the while being entertained throughout the day with live music and other activities.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt
Easter egg hunts aren’t just for kids—Olathe’s KC Wine Co. is bringing the fun all afternoon long with a boozy bash. The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes
Actor Cary Elwes is offering a behind-the-scenes look at the cult classic film The Princess Bride. Elwes, who portrayed farm boy Westley, will share secrets and stories from the movie and beyond at the Kauffman Center’s moderated discussion.

Daisy the Great
Indie-pop duo Daisy the Great is making waves with their dreamy melodies and punchy energy. Fresh off collaborating with producer Catherine Marks on their forthcoming album The Rubber Teeth Talk—in the same orbit as artists like Alanis Morissette and boygenius—the Brooklyn-based band is on the rise. Benét will open.

Big Freedia
The Queen of Bounce is back. After rocking the stage at Boulevardia the past two summers, New Orleans hip-hop icon Big Freedia is taking the stage at one of KC’s newest venues, Warehouse on Broadway.

Maya and the Magic Ring
A new, family-friendly production, Maya and the Magic Ring, is the ideal first foray into opera. The story follows young Maya, who, while exploring her grandmother’s house, discovers a dazzling ring hidden in an old chest—only to awaken a mysterious genie. The Lyric Opera of Kansas City is bringing this enchanting production to audiences across the metro with a community tour featuring free performances at Polsky Theatre, as well as local libraries and churches.

Orchid Delirium
A stunning and vibrant display awaits at Powell Gardens’ Orchid Delirium. Originally launched in 2022, the annual indoor exhibit showcases hundreds of alternating blooms from the garden’s extensive 2,000-piece orchid collection.

Sensatia
Kansas City-born and internationally renowned performance art collective Quixotic brings an interactive multimedia performance this winter. Blending acrobatics, futuristic visuals, live music, and perfumery, Sensatia promises a wildly unique sensory experience. This weekend marks the opening weekend of the original production.

Stan Douglas: Metronome
The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art’s latest exhibit Stan Douglas: Metronome uses music as a metaphor for the social climate. Douglas, a former DJ and self-proclaimed audiophile, presents three major video works in the immersive installation.
