Kansas City Irish Fest
Each Labor Day weekend, this tribute to Irish culture, music, history and community takes over Crown Center. Now returning for its 24th year, enjoy over one hundred performers, traditional customs, Celtic fare, whiskey tastings and more. This year’s headliners include The Elders and Gaelic Storm.

Greaserama
Since 1999, Los Punk Rods has hosted this celebration of car culture, dubbing itself as “the Midwest’s original punk rock car show.” With hot rods, lowriders, kustoms, trucks and more, Greaserama kicks off on Friday night with a pre-party, followed by competition day on Saturday. Enjoy plenty of local bands and food truck fare as competitors vie for street cred—and trophies that are constructed out of old auto parts and rattle cans.

Come From Away
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11, KCRep opens its 2026–27 season with a Tony Award-winning musical based on the terrorist attacks. Come From Away, set in the Canadian town of Gander, follows the story of the 7,000 rerouted airline passengers and the small town’s outpouring of support.

Pulp Fiction
Located at the corner of Broadway and 21st Street, the open-air movie theater is known for its skyline views in major cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, London and beyond. Enjoy cocktails, mocktails and elevated bar-food bites alongside a showing of cult-classic Pulp Fiction under the stars.

SantaCaliGon
Independence, otherwise known as “Queen City” where the California, Santa Fe and Oregon wagon trails commenced, celebrates its storied history with a free festival each Labor Day weekend. Drawing around 200,000 visitors each year, the 54th annual SantaCaliGon Days Festival—named for the three historic trails—returns with live entertainment, historic reenactments, local vendors and food trucks.

Songbird Sessions
Each Sunday evening through November, non-profit organization Manor Records spotlights KC musicians with concert series Songbird Sessions. This week features singer-songwriter Chris Hudson.

KC Renaissance Festival
Take a step back in time at Kansas City’s Renaissance Festival. The annual fair transports visitors to the Renaissance with cosplay, costumes and live entertainment such as jousting matches and folk music. There will be food and drinks, handmade goods and immersive activities throughout the festival, enhancing the creative and playful atmosphere.

Mini Golf At The Museum
It’s back! Art Course offers an artist-designed mini-golf adventure within the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Play nine unique holes, each offering a creative spin on a masterpiece from the museum’s collection.

Jimmy Buffett Day
Enjoy a staycation (and a salted rim) this Labor Day weekend at Margaritaville Hotel. With live music, discounted pool passes and plenty of cocktails, proceeds from the all-day affair support Buffet’s foundation Singing for Change—which assists small nonprofits focused on low income communities—and Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City.

Cross Threaded
Kansas City Artists Coalition’s new textile exhibit, Cross Threaded features works by 14 local artists. While the artists work with strikingly similar (and often recycled) materials, their approaches vary widely, from embroidery to soft sculpture to quilting and beyond.
